It’s already a distant memory but this past weekend was the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The kids had a doctors appointment the Friday before that so I decided to take that day off and make it a four day weekend.
That whole weekend was a ton of fun. The doctors appointment went great and everyone is growing like they should be. Afterwards we went to the in-laws to hang out and they bought some pizza’s. Saturday was easy going. Sunday we had church and then lunch with my parents.
Lunch with my parents typically ends up at Cracker Barrel which is sometimes good and other times not so good. Luckily this time was good however, our server came out with coffee mugs and no coffee to which I replied, “Something is missing here.” With a big smile of course. She smiles back and says, “We’re serving pretend coffee and pretend food today.” I just chuckled and told her that was ok because I’d be “paying with pretend money and leaving a pretend tip.” Things weren’t so funny after that.
Monday was MLK day and we took it pretty easy. I think Angi went out for a hair cut leaving me with the kids and everything went well. That day was my brother-in-laws birthday and we went out to the Cheesecake Factory despite the cries from my wallet. Luckily, like my dad did for us at Cracker Barrel, Angi’s dad picked up the check. Which I’m sure was huge considering me and Angi both ordered deserts there
The rest of the week went by in a blur. Angi heads back to work this week so there was quite a bit of sadness that we’ll have to send our precious children off to day care but I’m sure they’ll be in very capable hands.
In parting I leave you with a picture of the kids from their doctors appointment. The second one is James kissing his little sister. They looked so cute together I couldn’t resist snapping a pic!

I wouldn’t be a very good absentee blogger unless I made a New Years resolution to blog more. And confirm it by blogging that I’m going to blog more. So here is that post. You know, the one you generally see dated right after new years and then it’s August and the guy hasn’t posted anything else. Yeah, that can be me! But I have a plan.
To begin with I started using posterous, a website that makes it super simple to blog anything with through various methods such as email. I’ve also been writing daily (mostly) on a website called OhLife. It’s an online diary, or journal if you prefer. Every night it emails me and simply asks how my day went. I email it back a few sentences or paragraphs and it records it for me. It’s the only thing I’ve ever used that’s kept me writing frequently.
My goal is to create short posts with posterous every now and again with pictures. And about once a week roll up what’s been happening using OhLife. It will look a little something like this:
Leading up to New Years it seems the whole family got sick. I had to take a day off work to take care of everyone which of course meant I eventually got sick. I walked into work this past Monday coughing and generally looking of death and now regret not taking the day off. I switched James to the big boy Tylenol which means he has to take more of it but the dosage contains the same amount of medicine. It hasn’t been easy.
There was New Years of course which was a blast. Had a few friends over and watched the ball drop and rocked out to some rock band. I’m super excited about my baby girl growing up at the same time as my friends’ baby girl!
I saw the Social Network last Thursday. To begin with I thought the score of it was awesome. I think it was nominated for a Grammy and it deserves to be. Second, it kind of made me sad knowing I’ll never be as smart as I want to be. Some of the tings people can do is just amazing.
New Years day brought a surprise birthday party for Angi’s grandma. she turned 90 and the church by her house let us all come in and have a little party. James had a blast running around with the other kids and everyone complimented Lucie on how cute she is.
It was truly a good week with fun times with our family and friends. Praying for many more of those weeks this year. I’d be happy with 52 of them
P.S. Colts are in the playoffs. Go Colts!!!

Can you believe it? It’s been a month already! Time seems to be flying by and James Timothy is getting bigger everyday. We went to the doctor today and he is up to 11 pounds and has grown about an inch! The doc said he is healthy and advancing perfectly.
I think Angela fully understands why women get time off from work after having a child. She has been so busy this past month that I think sometimes she’s moving on pure adrenaline. I know I wouldn’t be able to do it! The best I can do is help out here and there where I can and try not to take things too personally when I get a pan thrown at me. LOL, ok so there haven’t been any pan throwing incidents… yet
He had his first bath and subsequently second and third this past month which he actually seems to LOVE. It always knocks him out right afterward too. We’ve got his swing set up which is something else he loves. Some mornings he likes to be put in that thing and then the rest of the family gets to sleep for several more hours. I’m already feeling the never ending amount of things that need to be put together for this kid.
And now for some pictures. If you’re not following me on twitter you’re missing out on some of the best pictures taken from my phone so go there now! http://twitter.com/jamescochran

Last week my son James Timothy was born to me and my wife Angela. Janurary 28th, 2009 at 12:11 pm. We actually got to the hospital on Monday so that she could be induced but by Wednesday morning it wasn’t happening and that’s about the time we decided a C-section may be the best way to go.
Shortly after noon we found out that was probably the best decision when all 10lbs 2.4ozs of James Timothy came screaming out to the outside world. The doc said the 16.5 inch shoulders probably would not have passed anyway and that his 14.5 inch head wasn’t even hardly under the pelvic bone like it should have been.
He was received with much fanfare once we got back to our room where everyone was waiting. They were all quickly kicked out though, or more precisely since they had already came out to the hallway to see the baby, were left out as we went into the room. We spent about an hour and a half getting Angela back to feeling ok and feeding the baby.
We had to spend the next 3 days in the hospital learning the massive amounts of information they throw at you. The best story out of this is the night when the baby finally pooped Angi couldn’t really get out of bed so I had to do the diapers. I started to take it off and all I could say was “Call the nurse.” Luckily she was seconds away and came in to give me a hand because that first poopy diaper was by far the worst we’ve had yet. Although he is starting to get quite a bit more gassy and a little smelly. It’s all down hill from here in the odor department I suppose.
We’ve been out of the hospital for a few nights now and we are definitely making this all up as we go and doing the best job we can which happens to be a great job if I say so myself
