New Years Resolution

I wouldn’t be a very good absentee blogger unless I made a New Years resolution to blog more. And confirm it by blogging that I’m going to blog more. So here is that post. You know, the one you generally see dated right after new years and then it’s August and the guy hasn’t posted anything else. Yeah, that can be me! But I have a plan.

To begin with I started using posterous, a website that makes it super simple to blog anything with through various methods such as email. I’ve also been writing daily (mostly) on a website called OhLife. It’s an online diary, or journal if you prefer. Every night it emails me and simply asks how my day went. I email it back a few sentences or paragraphs and it records it for me. It’s the only thing I’ve ever used that’s kept me writing frequently.

My goal is to create short posts with posterous every now and again with pictures. And about once a week roll up what’s been happening using OhLife. It will look a little something like this:

Leading up to New Years it seems the whole family got sick. I had to take a day off work to take care of everyone which of course meant I eventually got sick. I walked into work this past Monday coughing and generally looking of death and now regret not taking the day off. I switched James to the big boy Tylenol which means he has to take more of it but the dosage contains the same amount of medicine. It hasn’t been easy.

There was New Years of course which was a blast. Had a few friends over and watched the ball drop and rocked out to some rock band. I’m super excited about my baby girl growing up at the same time as my friends’ baby girl!

I saw the Social Network last Thursday. To begin with I thought the score of it was awesome. I think it was nominated for a Grammy and it deserves to be. Second, it kind of made me sad knowing I’ll never be as smart as I want to be. Some of the tings people can do is just amazing.

New Years day brought a surprise birthday party for Angi’s grandma. she turned 90 and the church by her house let us all come in and have a little party. James had a blast running around with the other kids and everyone complimented Lucie on how cute she is.

It was truly a good week with fun times with our family and friends. Praying for many more of those weeks this year. I’d be happy with 52 of them ūüôā

P.S. Colts are in the playoffs. Go Colts!!!

A Great Year

So much exciting stuff going on this year. Let me break it down so I’m sure to miss something.
My son, James Timothy, was born.
I celebrated my eighth anniversary with my beautiful bride.
I graduated with a BS in Computer and Information Technology.
I landed a great government job as a programmer with the D.O.D.
I got my season tickets for the Colts.

The latter meant I spent tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium watching the Colts first preseason game. Manning took six snaps and was sacked three times which was awful. I really like my seats though and I can’t wait until the regular season starts!

JT is getting huge! He had his sixth month appointment the other day and we found out he is eighteen pounds! He’s strting to do push ups and trying to crawl so I know it’s weeks before he is getting around. He’ll be happy when that happens because I can tell he’s been frustrated not being able to get around on his own power. That may sound crazy but have a kid and you’ll see ūüėČ and if you dont then your kid is lazy. I’m lazy too though so don’t take it personally.

So back to my point. This year has been awesome. I’m not looking forward to turning thirty but so far one amazing thing after another has happened. It’s nice to be done with school and to look to the future.

I’ve basically started a new chapter in my life this year and so far it looks like it’s going to be awesome! I’m hoping you’re having a great year too. And for those of you that aren’t don’t loose faith. -James

Colts Win!

Or should I say the Texans lost.¬† And really maybe I should say Rosenfels lost.¬† Had it not been for his two fumbles and an interception the Colts would not have been able to comeback.¬† Sure the Colts won but it was ugly the whole game.¬† The kind of ugly that makes me want to put a paper bag over my T.V.¬† I couldn’t find one big enough though.

I was hoping that after the bye week the Colts would come out firing.¬† I got my wish.¬† During the first quarter they came out firing.¬† After a quick 10 point making it 10-0 the Colts didn’t do anything the rest the game until the final few minutes.¬† They couldn’t run.¬† Timing was all off and passes were falling incomplete.¬† The defense couldn’t stop the run or the pass it seemed.¬† Brackett was on the field hurt at one point during a “hold your breath” moment.¬† Penalties that made it seem like it was some other team and not the Colts (unless you’ve watched the other games this year). It was definitely one of those scream at your T.V. games that turned into quiet disappointment.

In the last four minutes after the Colts allowed 27 unanswered points making it 10-27, Manning had a decent drive down the field that ended in a touchdown.¬† Then a Rosenfels fumble for a defensive touchdown.¬† Then another Rosenfels fumble which allowed the Colts another touchdown drive.¬† Finally it ended when Rosenfels threw a pass to seemingly right to the Colts so they could intercept it.¬† Which I should mention after several great passes down the field which looked as if they had every chance to get down the field to score in the 1:56 or so they had to do it in.¬† I think Rosenfels had money on the Colts and really wasn’t expecting to play. Why else would he have thrown the game like that?

A win is a win as I usually say.¬† Or as my dad put it, “If there was money on the pool table the Colts would be scooping it up.”¬† In actuality I think Rosenfels lost the game.¬† The Texans played superior football throughout and it was a fluke the Colts were able to pull off what they did.¬† I’m happy about the win but if we play that poorly against this “tough-as-nails” schedule coming up it’s going to be a long December followed by a boring January and February with no Colts to watch.

The Colts outstanding loss to the Jaguars

The Colts loss yesterday was disappointing.¬† There is no question about it.¬† I think I read somewhere that this is the first 1-2 start since 1998 when Manning was a rookie.¬† To me, however, the Colts looked the best they have all season.¬† The offense came out firing, the defense was doing well with a three and out off the bat.¬† As for stopping the run they were able to do… but when they didn’t they really didn’t.¬† So many times they had three or four guys on top of the runner at or behind the line.¬† The problem is when they missed the tackle or played the pass.¬† Jacksonville was able to really break off big chunks of yards when that happened which killed us.¬† So while the loss is disappointing it was nice to see the opening minutes of the game and feel like the Colts were back.¬† The rest of the game was so-so and about how I would expect us to play against Jacksonville.¬† Going in I said Jacksonville would want it more than us. ¬†

Let’s take a look at the rest of the season¬†courtesy¬†of ¬†After this weeks bye I think we have a good shot of winning the next couple of games. ¬†Obviously the Packers worry me but I think we’ll have the confidence going in that we can do it. ¬†Division champs may be a different story though.
