The Great American Meatout

Several people including some close friends of mine have invited me and the wife to The Great American Meatout being held today at 5:00 pm. At first I thought it to be a bit silly especially since I’m not a vegetarian. I also don’t think a good time is having a lot of people look down on me because I eat pepperonis on my pizza. Then I got to thinking that maybe I’ll enjoy the all you can eat food and Honky-Tonk band for a mere $10 spot. Plus it’s good to try new things right?

Unfortunately, those same friends are working the event so it’s not like we could go hang out with them. I also don’t think it’s something the wife would be all that interested in. She’s the one always content to stay in the house when I want to go out and paint the town red. So we’ll see.

Porch Dog wrote up a post that confirmed my thinking about the event. He pretty much summed it up by saying, “Not eating meat for one day, can’t hurt and it might help.” Too bad for me I already had two slices of pepperoni pizza for lunch. Maybe I’ll go to the store to get some kumquats and munch on them the rest of the day.

Here are the event details; maybe I’ll see you there:

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H10

I recieved a new camera about a week and a half ago as a gift from my mom.  I wanted something that could take pictures quickly and had a big zoom.  There was a Canon I had in mind but this Sony fits the bill fine.  DPReview has a good review of it if you want to check it out.  I mainly just wanted to post a few pictures I took with it over the past few days.  In the future I hope to post my pictures of things I take but for now I’ll just leave you with a few.

Barcelona Tapas

For Jim’s birthday we also decided to eat at Barcelona Tapas in downtown Indianapolis. I looked up their menu on line and then had to look several things up on wikipedia like “saffron”. I ended up getting the roasted cauliflour but it’s really one of those places where everyone shares. I tried the goat cheese on garlic bread which was suprisingly great. The best part is boisterous Jim yelling over the tables about how good the food is. If you like to try new things or are a fan of Sangria I recomend this restuarant. The pink sangria is the best.
